VideoSift 5 This Week

We're launching VideoSift 5 this week with a huge slew of new features. It's been a long time since we've had a big number release. This will be the VideoSift to carry us through the next several years. I'm just preparing you all for the shock. If you're like me, Sift people (and I know you are) sometimes you may have difficulty coping with change. A lot will have changed in the new version - so brace yourself, embrace the change and let's see how we go.

The problem is that I'm an Apple fanboy, and Lucky is a Fandroid - I'm afraid we would kill each other on which app has supremacy. The compromise has been to make the Web version act responsively, to show a mobile-optimised site. It looks great on my iPhone - Lucky tells me it's good on Android (like anyone really uses Android to surf the web). Ooops, here we go.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the updates!
Speaking of updates, I was just thinking the other day... Have you guys ever considered making a mobile app for viewing/voting/commenting?

FYI VideoSift 4.0 was 3 years and 3 months ago.

Wow, has it been that long? Well I'm psyched for 5.0. You and lucky are the Videosift Jesus, you can do no wrong so I'll take any change as positive. I'll be the (probably not) first and say by now I'm sick of the current design.

So it's VideoSift V? So many epic trailer opportunities here.

*black screen*

* V fades in*

*Slides to the left forming the word VideoSift*

*shots of people roaring at the sky*

*Another V appears to the right of VideoSift*

*| appears above the V*

Yeah, so watch out for Videosift Judas, Videosift Jews and Videosift Romans. Or not... if shit goes down, you'll be fine in a few days anyway.

There's really no reason VS needs an app; a mobile site is perfectly fine. Making apps is quite fashionable nowadays, but it's still a bad idea for something like viewing a website.

It's also convenient that both iOS and Android use essentially the same browser. Even if there were standards compliance problems, they'd both probably be broken in the same way.

It's coming. When I say "this week" it might be on the tail-end. >> ^Sarzy:

So, where's this so-called update? When are we going to get to the fireworks factory??

I totally agree. Nothing bothers me more than going to read a news article from "The West BumFart Times" on my iPad - and getting a pop-up begging me to download their app.

One of what I presume is many reason reasons not to read The West BumFart Times.

and oh wait, you already answered the app question.. never mind. Just like to be able to get VS in as few # of steps as possible, the FB posts are helpful with that, just often times a sift I dont care for.
