A man punched a sheriff's deputy and tried to grab the officer's handgun from its holster after a judge in Battle Creek convicted him of murder in the killings of his wife and son. (May 14)

Uh, fuck. Kudos to everyone who jumped in to help. They probably weren't thinking it at the time, but they put themselves in mortal danger to keep peace.

I'm sure it's a retention holster, you can't just pull the gun out. Requires either a rock, tilt, push down, etc. depending on the model to "unlock" the holster.
