NASCAR crash 2012: Talladega frights as 25 cars crash

The rumble starts around 1:30 mark.

The terrifying shunt, involving no less than 25 cars, happened on the last lap of a 500-mile NASCAR epic as a huge pack thundered as one towards the finishing line.

Leader Tony “Smoke” Stewart tried to protect his position by flicking his Chevrolet across the bows of Michael Waltrip’s Toyota.

The resulting contact started an incredible chain reaction as the Chevy flipped up and over the chasing cars while others slammed into each other or the retaining wall.

Stewart, NASCAR’S reigning champ, managed to clamber from the mangled wreckage unharmed and even found time to wave to fretting fans.

And amazingly, no one was hurt amid the lumps of smouldering metal that littered the Alabama track. (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/motorsport/4579814/Talladega-frights-as-25-cars-crash.html)
