During a televised debate in between Jordanian Parliament Member Mohammed Shawabka and activist Mansour Sayf al-Din Murad the politician threw a shoe then pulled his gun after being taunted by the activist.

Even I, an asinine uncultured American, know that in Jordanian culture as well as most middle eastern cultures that showing someone the bottom of your shoe or throwing your shoe at someone is considered to be an offense of the highest order, like someone giving your grandmother the finger right in front of you.
